What I found striking about the new Star Trek movie was how all of the characters just save the lives of one another over and over. And no one's like, "Wow man, I owe you one". They're all just doing their jobs.

That's how healthy organizations work. My life is like that, except instead of saving each others' lives, it's fixing each others' bugs.

My new team at work is like that, especially when it comes to just getting work orders out the door. Since our capacity is so ebb-and-flow, the guy with less to do generally fills in for the guy with too much to do.
