Geekend Approacheth

So, the long weekend beginning Friday, March 13 is drawing near. Which means it is time to play games and socialize.

Friday, Mike'll be running a one-night GURPS campaign. So far the roster includes me, Matt, and Jason, maybe with a spot open.

Saturday looks like Board Games at Chad and Pam's place.

On Sunday, Jason will be hosting a fantasy movie brunch, after which we can play some new-fashioned D&D. The potential players (however reluctant) besides Jaye and me are Matt, Chad, Tyler, John, The Internet's Dave...  And/or anyone else who wants in. I've created a primer for veteran players listing many of the changes from 3.5 which can be found here.

On Monday I will be around and interested in playing more games of some sort. LAN TF2 or Civ4 could be fun.

How's that going to work for people?

Did I miss the memo to volunteer for the GURPs session?

Okay, you're the guy!

Depending on people's schedules we will probably try to start as early as works for everyone.

No, I'm not the guy. I realized after I posted this that I had tentative plans that night, and now they are solid. So that spot is still open.

Google Calendar! Or not.

Also, I believe Bean and Charlie are joining the 4.0 campaign and Matt said something on Saturday about never playing another stat system that isn't Gurps. But I'm not sure about that.

Though Charlie may not actually be that interested. I need to have people over and we need to make some characters.
Also, I need to read the module. I'll do that tonight while watching Heroes.

I am interested in D&D, and monday computer games if there is room. I didn't think I could before, but it turns out that that is the first weekend of spring break, so I am pretty free.

I like your summary of D&D 4 changes, but you missed the most important question: how does grappling work now?

Haha, it's very complicated. For starters it's called a grab now.

But actually it's really simple. You can make a Strength vs. Reflex attack. if it works, they're immobilized. It's a minor action to sustain the grab. The grab ends if you let go, or one of you are pushed away by some sort of forced movement. They can also try to escape as a move action (Acrobatics vs. Reflex or Athletics vs. Fortitude).

If you want you can attempt to drag the target at half speed (Str vs. Fort) as a standard action.

My only problem is if stuff is happening at Jaye's, I'll have to bow out. The ferrets set off my allergies like nobody's business. Though I've been meaning to fire up Suicidor again, so maybe I join in for some TF2 on Monday?

I can't tell if that last spot for the GURPS game is still open, but I'd like to get in on that.

Oh, and on the TF2 front, I've been looking to play some serious game with friends, so totally put my vote down for that. Though, knowing most LAN parties, we could probably have both games going.

I've almost unlocked all the secret weapons. BONK!

I would be interested in GURPS if it's okay that I'm not a crafty veteran.

Is it cool to invite others of my friends to the more group-oriented activities? Particularly, I wanted to get more people over here for board gaming. I was just wondering if you were planning on making this huge or just within your LJ friends.

Well I wasn't expecting "huge", but the more the merrier when it comes to board games! Especially since that part's going to be at your house, invite whoever. Really the geekend should be appreciated by everyone.
